Jeden z najlákavejších ostrovov na Jadrane sa nachádza vo vnútri pásu Kvarnerského súostrovia. Na rozdiel od ostrova Pag, Rab je chránený pred nepriaznivým vplyvom prúdiacich vetrov hlavne vyšším hrebeňom Kamenjaku, siahajúcim do výšky niečo málo nad 400 m. Preto je Rab porastený dokonca aj dubmi. Celkovo môžeme povedať, že je miestne prostredie veľmi zdravé, bezprašné a presýtené soľou, a tým blahodarne pôsobí na celý organizmus. Na začiatku 20. storočia získalo mesto Rab štatút kúpeľov a od tejto doby sa turistický ruch začal veľmi rýchlo rozvíjať.Priamo na námestí Svetog Kristofor sa zhromažďujú tie najzaujímavejšie architektonické pamiatky z dôb dávno minulých. Snáď najstaršou stavbou, či vlastne pozostatkom stavby, je ruina kostola sv. Ivana zo 7.storočia. Najimpozantnejší pohľad sa naskytne z mohutnej, 25 metrov vysokej veže katedrály Sveti Marija z 12. storočia. Veľmi bujarou a obľúbenou zábavou sú oslavy sv. Krištofa, ktoré sa konajú 27. júla, kedy môžete vidieť súťaže v streľbe z kuše alebo podľahnúť kúzlu miestnych tancov.
